Earlier in the day, Anglican Bishop Reverend Oluwaseun Aderogba of Jebba Diocese, Kwara State, and his wife and driver were also abducted by gunmen .

They were abducted on the new Oyo / Ogbomoso road in Oyo State. Police spokesman Adewale Osifeso confirmed the incident in a statement. He said the incident was reported by Rev. Adekunle Adeluwa at the Atiba Police Headquarters.

According to Osifeso, initial investigations revealed that the vehicle of the victims had a malfunctioned while flying from Yewa in Ogun State to Jebba in Kwara.

He said the deputy commissioner of police in charge of operations had been directed to take responsibility for the rescue of the victims.
