Russia has given a warning to Ukrainian civilians

The Russian military says it will give civilians 12 hours from Wednesday to flee attacks in the eastern Ukrainian city of Severodonetsk.

A BBC correspondent says this is the first time such an opportunity has been offered in severodonetsk; in a sense of mercy, after failing to do so in other places.

Russia’s Defense Ministry says the men will be taken to the separatist region of Luhansk.

Earlier, Ukraine’s governor said Russian troops had opened fire on an area near Severodonetsk.

He says Russia is trying to gain more control of the city – where Ukrainian forces are fighting.
