In a groundbreaking development, renowned Kano business magnate and Managing Director of El-Samad Group of Companies, Alhaji Sammani Adamu has unveiled plans to establish a fashion academy in the state.
Alhaji Sammani Adamu, made this known yesterday (Wednesday) at the Inspiring Leadership Reflection Interactive Series (ILERIS) organized by the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD).
Alhaji Sammani explained that “The fashion academy, set to be named the El-Samad Fashion Academy, will provide a unique platform for individuals passionate about the world of fashion to acquire essential skills and knowledge”
“Aspiring designers, stylists, models, and other fashion professionals will have the opportunity to receive comprehensive training and guidance from industry experts, enabling them to pursue successful careers in the competitive fashion industry”
On his part, Executive Director Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), Engr. Y. Z Ya’u, who was represented by Malam Ahmad Abdullahi Yakasai, said CITAD is working on different fronts to contribute to addressing the gender digital divide which includes; providing training for women and girls on ICTs, advocacy for girls to have access to the internet in schools, engaging in campaign against gender-based violence online, developing ICT entrepreneurship skills for Women.
According to him, “The digital entrepreneurship training provided by CITAD had provided opportunities to the women and young girls to develop apps to sell their products and services using the knowledge they acquired during the sessions”
Malam Ahmad Yakasai also said that Nigeria’s target of 95 per cent digital literacy by 2030 is hanging in the balance if priority attention is not given to the digital gap between women in northern Nigeria and their southern counterparts.
Inspiring Leadership Reflection Interactive Series (ILERIS) is an initiative of the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) which aims at enriching the lives of young people through mentorship and inspiration.
Accomplished personalities from different backgrounds and professions are invited monthly to speak to the participating youth about their lives, challenges, obstacles, successes, careers, etc, with a view to unpacking some hints for the participating youth to copy and apply for them to also succeed in their endeavours and careers.
