CITAD, Lenovo Begin 2nd Phase of Training for Women on Digital Skills 

The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), has commenced 2nd face of training for women on digital skills for inclusive development. 

The training, according to the centre is supported by Lenovo Foundation and is aimed at building women technological capacities towards attaining the 21st digital transformation in technopreneurship.

The Centre said, the training is spread for the period of six-month and attracted 70 young girls from Kano state as beneficiaries.

The program, themed “Digital Creativity and Innovation for Young Women (DICI-YOW),” aimed at empowering young girls with digital skills and entrepreneurial knowledge, as well as providing them with opportunities to secure digital jobs”.

According to Mr. Yunusa Yau, the Executive Director of Centre said, “the program will equip the participants with basic and advanced digital and business skills, as well as introducing them to websites and foundations where they can access job opportunities, soft loans, and grants from both government and private entities”.

Guest speakers at the program encouraged the young women to use their intelligence and creativity as capital to change their economic situations and become financially independent.

The participants expressed their excitement about the program, which they believe will reshape their thinking economically and socially.

This, is part of various CITAD initiatives in it’s effort to bridge the digital divide between genders and provide job opportunities for women to participate in the digital economy.

The program also aligns with Lenovo Foundation’s commitment to empowering underrepresented groups, especially women, with technological skills to improve their lives and communities.
