Protesters in Libya have stormed the country’s parliament building east of Tobruk, expressing anger over rising costs and uncertainty over the country’s political future.
Several Libyan state television stations reported that protesters had stormed the Libyan parliament building and vandalized property, with some saying a section of the parliament was set on fire after seeing videos of smoke billowing from around the building.

Libya’s parliament has been in Tobruk since the outbreak of violence in the east and west of the country in 2014 following protests that toppled former President Moamer Gaddafi.
Tripoli’s interim prime minister, Abdulhamid Dbeibah, has said on Twitter that he will raise his voice to the protesters and call for elections.
