Bashir Mustapha, a Kano-based tech enthusiast, has launched a new venture in Nigeria’s commercial hub. His company, MUCSTAR Cables and Accessories, has begun the mass production of USB cables, marking a milestone in local manufacturing.
In a telephone interview with CITAD Online Radio today, Mustapha explained his enterprise’s vision. Launched three months ago, MUCSTAR is pioneering in Africa and highlights Kano’s potential as a regional manufacturing center.
“The idea to start mass USB cable production came from a need to reduce our reliance on imported goods and to generate employment for our youth,” Mustapha said. “USB cables are essential for mobile phone users, and we must produce them locally to boost our economy.”
Mustapha’s focus on local production is evident in every aspect of the company’s operations. The company invested in the necessary machinery, and all production processes, including assembly and packaging, are conducted in Kano.
“We have the machinery set up here, and we handle the entire production process locally. The only component we purchase is the wire itself,” Mustapha explained.
The initial phase involved distributing cables to family and friends for feedback, which has been positive.
“Our products are of high quality, and the demand is growing. This venture aims to meet local needs and create significant employment opportunities for the youth,” Mustapha added.
MUCSTAR Cables and Accessories is set to contribute to Kano’s reputation as a commercial center in Nigeria, showcasing the potential of local production to drive economic growth and innovation.
