Kano Mosque Explosion: Suspect Arrested, Motive Linked to Family Dispute

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the early morning explosion that rocked a mosque in Gadan village, Gezawa Local Government Area.

According to Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Usaini Gumel, the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Shafi’u Abubakar, confessed to carrying out the attack due to a long-standing family dispute over inheritance.

The explosion, which occurred around 5:20 am during morning prayers, left 24 people injured, including 20 adult males and four children. The injured were rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano for treatment.

Responding to the incident, a team of security personnel, including explosives experts, were deployed to the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest the explosion was caused by a petrol bomb.
